Love me and Care for Me – Denim

Here at Fran and Jane HQ we know that many of our customers find shopping for a new pair of jeans a very strenous and time consuming experience! Finding a pair that is the right fit, wash and shape for your body type can be pretty tough so when shoppers do find that perfect pair, we know that they very often want to hold on to them for as long as they possibly can! In an attempt to help our shoppers to maintain the fit and colour of their most treasured jeans, we have put together a short list below of some useful tips to explain how best to Love and Care for denim:

• Not all denims will require the same laundering process and so it is important to always read the care label for each new pair.  
• Always turn jeans inside-out before laundering; it keeps the rivets, buttons or zipper from snagging other clothes and from grazing the side of the washer.
  

  Caring for Denim

• If using a powdered detergent, turning the jeans inside out keeps the powder from making unwanted whisker effects on the fabric.
• Wash in cold water to prevent excess dye loss (colour) and to control shrinkage.
• Use a liquid detergent designed especially for cold water laundering or specific for laundering denim.
• Bleach should never be used on denim as this will destroy the colour / wash of denim.
• Air, towel or hang dry, if possible; or use the lowest dryer setting.
• To store denim, it is best to fold them; wire coat hangers can create an unwanted crease and clip hangers can prematurely distress the cuffs or waist of the denim.
• The best way to store denim is the way you see them in stores: fold one leg over the other so the that the zipper or buttons are inside the fold, then fold them in half lengthwise, then half again.

Football gets Fabulous!

Fran and Jane just loooooves the custom made 18ct gold travel case designed by Louis Vuitton to hold the famous FIFA World Cup trophy until it is handed to the winning team in July.

The fabulous piece was unveiled last week by the French design house and supermodel Naomi Campbell. A spokesperson for Louis Vuitton said, “This exceptional commission truly honors Louis Vuitton’s 150- year tradition of craftsmanship and savoir-faire. We are also delighted to be part of the great festival of football that the 2010 FIFA World Cup promises to be, and to renew our ties with the host country South Africa, with which we have had for many years a very special relationship.”

Fran and Jane makes the Grazia Fashion Charts!!

We here at Fran and Jane treat Grazia’s weekly Fashion Charts as our fashion bible so when the team chose to feature one of our Spring Summer dresses in this week’s issue we were no less that ecstatic! We made the chart this week at no. 7 and are oh so proud to be getting the recognition for all of our hard work in the UK market as well as here at home.

The dress featured is named Wispa 3 and comes in pink and black, priced at €169. Since featuring in Grazia this piece has literally been flying off the rails, so get in to one of our stores fast to make sure that you are keeping up with the charts!
