Fran and Jane Action Breast Cancer Mittens

Take a sneak peak at the gorgeous Fran and Jane mittens created by our design team in support of Action Breast Cancer. Along with some other noted fashion houses, Fran and Jane was asked to customize a pair of these special mittens with our own style and signature. These mittens will then be showcased in media and exhibitions and eventually auctioned with all proceeds going to Action Breast Cancer.

September 22nd, 2010 Sneak Peek

Forget UGG, there’s a new Shearling in Town!!!

In a refreshing change from the repetitive coat trends that have dominated the runways for the last couple of winter seasons, shearling jackets are this seasons must have item that will keep you warm and on trend this AW. Yes indeed shearling jackets are going to be to 2010 what black leather jackets were to 2009 – a versatile piece that every woman will want to own. So no longer need we feel ashamed for over indulging in the UGG boot shearling phenomenon and it is time to embrace the new shearling trend with the confidence of an up to the minute fashionista!

Wood 4 €149

Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Burberry and Marni have all taken up the shearling trend with gusto and we here at Fran and Jane are right there with them putting our own stamp on things creating styles that we know our loyal shoppers will love. We have created three shearling styles for our AW collection cropped, cape and full length so whatever your style we have something to suit everyone! Paired with skinny jeans and over the knee boots, our caped version is more ski resort chic than rocker chick. Throw our cropped style on with wide leg trousers for a polished aviator feel or with a short pleated skirt for an haute twist on the collegiate look. As a nod to 70’s cool wrap up in our toasty full length version and add your staple winter boots for a fashion forward way to battle the elements.

Wood 6 €149

Though the price tags for many of the high end shearling pieces may cause you to break out into a sweat this September ours may surprise you – either way we’d argue that these furry finds are worth the investment. We leave you with one piece of advice, at the end of the season remember to take your shearling jacket to the dry cleaners before packing it away as this trend is set to stick around again next year!

Lots of Love,

Gráinne Seoige gives viewers a Sneak Peek at Fran and Jane AW 2010/11

The beautiful Grainne Seoige has been creating quite a stir of late in her new role with GMTV. The ultra glam presenter has taken prime position on the famous GMTV red couch, tasked with the role of dishing the dirt on the world of celebrity to millions of homes around the UK.

We here at Fran and Jane were so proud to have the Galway native showcase our AW 2010/11 collection to the world by wearing our pieces during her various appearances on the show. Going from sophisticated glamour in our Shona 2 white shift dress with black stone embellishment, to feminine and pretty in our bright fuchsia collared knit dress, Grainne did not disappoint each morning looking a million dollars!

Following her show stopping appearance on the show, ITV1’s Daybreak announced on July 20th 2010 that Grainne will become part of ITV’s ongoing strategy to renew and refresh its programming by joining their new team as Features Editor.

Our shoppers can get their hands on the Fran and Jane pieces seen on Grainne mid –August as our beautiful AW 2010/11 collection arrives in stores. The new collection is STUNNING and we simply cannot wait to share it with our shoppers.

May 27th, 2010 Sneak Peek

This is How the Magic Happens !!!

We here at Fran and Jane HQ are so proud of our labels ‘Fran and Jane’ and ‘Regine’ that we want to give our shoppers a sneak peek behind the scenes and into our design studio’s to give you a glimpse at how the magic happens and what lovely pieces we have in store for you! Originally a wholesale label way back when in 1974, our design and production team has grown and learned a few tricks along the way to develop a strict eight step process that turns a scrap of material into one of the beautiful dresses that you see in our stores.

Step 1: Idea Generation

The first key step in the creative process is Idea Generation. Our designers take inspiration for the season ahead from various trusty sources such as Enterprise Ireland’s ‘Fashion Forecast’. Here they learn what’s hot and what’s not in fabrics, shapes, colours and what will be filling the rails of the high street in the month’s to come.

Step 2: Looking through the Fran and Jane Lens

Putting our own Fran and Jane stamp on the season’s trends is so important to making sure we keep our customers happy! Our years of experience and hearing shoppers feedback has taught us what works on our rails and for the tastes of our shoppers.

Step 3: Sketching

Ideas are sketched by our in house designers and fabrics are applied to create storylines for each collection. One fabric is chosen per storyline with an average of ten fabrics making up a collection.

Step 4: Design Approval

Once ideas have been sketched and fabrics selected by the design team, Fran Nolan and daughter Laura are the creative critiques which have the final say on all designs and instruct on the necessary tweaks, changes and additions to be made on every design and pattern.

Step 5: Sampling

Once the team is certain that they are on to a winner the sketches and designs are then brought to life and sampled by our designers in Fran and Jane HQ.

Sampling of Ideas

Step 6: The 3 x F’s: Fittings, Finish and Fabulousness!

This is our favourite part of the whole process! Once samples have been created they are then fitted on models to ensure they look as good in real life as they do on paper. Quality of garment is huge for us and it is at this stage we make sure that the fabrics, shape and detail of every piece is 100% FABULOUS! Designs are often scrapped at this stage if the team feels they just don’t make the cut.

Step 7: Production

Once each of the previous 6 steps has been completed and the team are happy with samples the finished product is sent with instructions and guidelines to be produced in Poland. Key to the Fran and Jane ethos is that designs are never reproduced and only a certain number of each design is created each season.

Step 8: Constant Drop Ethos

To make sure that we always have our fingers on the pulse, Fran and Jane work to a ‘constant drop’ business model. Here two large collections are created each year Spring Summer and Autumn Winter, but to keep our shoppers appetites satisfied our designers (when inspired) are constantly adding to the collection with pieces they feel will tickle our shoppers fancies!

Lots of love,

The Fran and Jane Team xxXXxx
